COMBATING THE THREE HUMERALS OF BODY

The universe is made up of five elements or Punchbhuttas, and so are we. Each element has a unique characteristic. Each of them imparts their virtue wherever they are present.

Understanding the body types enables us to understand our bodies and take measures to correct its aggravations.

For instance, an exposure to cold and dry weather or stressful day makes one tired with wavering brain. It manifests as fatigue and undue anxiety and fear. It is a classic example of Vayu aggravation.

Usually I witness, persons especially students under stress of studies and exams stay in perpetual anxiety and fear. They simply fail to understand the aggravation of Vayu tattva in body and don’t seek measures to rectify it. Thus the condition persists.

Extreme cases of Vayu aggravation slide the person in a state of lower stamina and depression. As the lord of Vayu tattva, the planet Saturn is known to induce irritations, anxiety, fear and impulsiveness in an individual.

To soothe the Vayu aggravation, measures like proper diet, breathing exercise and mind soothing meditation and chanting of mantra (of planet Saturn, Lord Hanuman, Lord Shiva) help. Life style changes, according to nature’s circadian cycle work the best to deal with it.

The five elements and their characteristics-
Ether or space- is present everywhere.
Air-is a substance of varying state.
Fire-has power to transform matters.
Water-is a substance with power to flow or flexibility.
Earth- is a substance of solid state.
Each of the elements, thus show their attributes wherever they occupy the place.

The three humeral or constituents of body are Vayu, Pitta and Kapha. The three humeral of body are actually the faults or aggravations of Panchbhutas (five elements of body i.e. ether or space, air, fire, water and earth).

The three aggravations of elements impart characteristic of human body as Vayu, Kapha and Pitta. Thus the constitution or type of person varies from person to person. A person may have single constitution or may be of mixed i.e. can have more than two doshas or of mixed types.

The constitution of three humeral are Vayu (air+space), Pitta (fire+Water) and Kalpa or Phlegm(earth+water).

Let's have the vedic way

A health article of a leading Daily reported a recent study in which the link between pelvic pain and migraines had been stated.

Studies by the researchers, led by the U S government’s National Institute of Health, concluded that the 67 percent of chronic pelvic pain sufferers had migraines and another eight percent had headaches that were possibly migraines.

Pelvic pain is characterized by the discomfort in region between hips below the belly button for six months or more. The causes for pelvic pain and migraine are yet to be discovered.

The so called revelation of the prestigious daily had enough takers and the facts were easily acceptable. Here I would like to ask, “really that revelation was unknown to Indian soil? or we had blindly been chosen to ignore it.”

It is already stated by our traditional means of treatments like Yoga and Ayurveda but habitually most of us get whiff of superstition in it as it lacks scientific tests.

“Then why do we accept some other facts despite their failure to get proved by science?” Like emotions - we accept it but it cannot be measured and proved in the science lab.

The consequences of emotions are also acceptable to us as in a day we witness the surge and decline of fight and flight hormones. It speeds the heart beats during emergency situation and dilate and constrict the pupils when we come inside a comparatively dark room from sunlight and vice versa.

Now a glance on the facts that are already accepted by us-

-Migraine is psychosomatic ailment. In which person feels throbbing pain in one half of the brain (hemisphere).

-Some sufferers may experience nausea and sensitivity to light.

Facts supported by the western science and the ethnic treatment methods like Yoga and Ayurveda are-

-Our forebrain composed of two parts (hemispheres) left and right. The right hemisphere is meant for processing emotional issues and left hemisphere for processing logical issues.

-In any case when one part of brain over works and comes under stress the coordination between two hemispheres get disrupted causing the headache.

Acute mental stress causes dilation of major artery of brain which causes inflammation of nerve ending causing migraine.

-It usually gets triggered during the emotional stress or excessive work load, some other factors too tend to flare it.

Facts of Yoga and Ayurveda
-According to Yoga and Ayurveda the human body consists of 360 chakras out of which seven are primary chakras. Each chakra represents different attributes of emotional and physical aspects of the body.

-There are different body organs and glands that too share the position of different chakras.

(According to yoga chakras are the hypothetical points on the spinal cord also known as the energy centers of body through which body receive life force energy).

-The Hara chakra is positioned at pelvic region. It is also known as emotional chakra. The organs of Hara chakra are gonads (ovary and testis), kidney, bladder and uterus.

-This chakra controls water elements of the body and emotional issues of the body. The water element of the body as well gets affected with the waxing and waning of the moon so our emotional levels.

It is a well accepted fact that emotional stress causes the fibroid and other ovary related ailment in females. Even in males the secretion of excess hormone testosterones brings anger which is an outcome of emotional crisis

This certainly gives us reason to ponder and get into patient retrospect in the wisdom of yoga and Ayurveda. It has remedy to work on both gross (physical) and subtle (mental) levels and bring out the best.

Therefore some discerning brains must spare some time and energy on it. It is time worth spending to search the ethnic treasures. After all how long to accept the facts we will look to distant shores.

The poisonous shot on the plate

The indiscriminate use of growth hastening hormones, the dyes used to color vegetables and fruits to fool us with its fresh look, are open secret to all of us. The audacity of the ominous actions need urgent attention of ours. As we are the affected community at the same time it is our own preoccupied demeanor which bring these repentant acts at this level of audacity.
Fruits and vegetables are known to protect us from diseases by enhancing our immunity. But when the so called necessities would start creating havoc on our health then God knows where to look for refuge. And these poisonous shots make their way to our plate first then to the body system on daily basis.
No doubt a big chunk of our hard earned money goes to paying medicines and our time visiting health centers. We usually give more attention looking for best health policies and health center s rather than nipping the problem at the bed.
The indiscriminate use of hormones auxin (a growth hormone of plants) and oxytocin (a mammalian hormone) to hasten the growth of vegetables like pumpkin, cucumbers, bananas (in the inflorescent stage) are rampantly taken by the farmers these days. The good traces of these hormones remains as a residue with enough damaging effect that creates havoc to the human health.
To restore the freshness the vegetables and fruits are being dyed. The dyes are carcinogenic in nature which create blindness, affect nervous system and create serious immunological disturbances. Another long sustained menace is the ripening chemical that’s carbide which has been used persistently.
At least to put tab on these life threatening acts measures should be taken-
-By cutting down on the consumption (switching to other substitute to make up for the nutrition). Lowering the buy of the hormonal treated produce will curtail their profit which can act as speed breaker to their greed induced profit.
- A suitable government organization or NGO should come forth to put onus on the retailer. Before buying the produce it should be made mandatory to go through the quality check (though it seems next to impossible to get heeded by all slumbered food and quality control authorities).
-There must be a viable policy in action to measure and check on the farmers for the use of pesticides and hormones.
This article is not about intimating the society about the basics of effects and after effect of excessive use of hormones, carcinogenic dyes, pesticides and chemicals in general on our body system and environment. It is known fact to all of us that writing these stuffs act as only reminder to all intelligent readers of ours. More alarming I feel how long we won’t show and ask for necessary actions by the people concerned. Why don’t we look for the desired action right after paying our taxes to government?

Swine Flu

The swine flu is a menacing addition of ongoing decade. In the beginning its familiarity with common weather changing flu symptoms escaped it from necessary stringent action. Soon it took the form of pandemic, with its menacing grip. The swine flu virus is quick at mutating. Thus by endlessly changing the shape of its protein coat the virus is able to dodge the human immune system.
The pandemic swine flu or A (H1N1), first detected in Mexico in April 20009. Now India alone has recorded 31,934 infections and 1,531 deaths since its first case in 20009. What does make the pandemic so sinister? What is the constitution of the virus? “It is a “triple reassortment” virus, which is made up of segment from human, swine and avian viruses-as suggested by experts.”
The pre pandemic immunization to deal the crisis is taken. But the success gets hindered, as still there is no way to find out which strain of influenza will hit next. As a result the pandemic vaccines would need to contain “a cocktail of strains”.
The indigenous swine flu vaccines of India are launched. The leading pharmaceutical firms’ Zydus Cedilla, Bharat Biotech, Panacea Biotech and the serum institute are fore runners in vaccine productions.
The Tropical countries (including India) are mutation hot spot of swine flu, as these countries in particular harbor many influenza viruses. Next human in poor tropical often live in close proximity to livestock.
As a highly transmissible virus it spreads quickly in dense populated country where people with limited resources find themselves difficult to combat it.
Prevention from swine flu entails three steps-
First its outbreak is controlled in swine.
Then its transmission is prevented among human.
Next its spread is prevented among human to check the pandemic form.
symptoms of swine flu in human-
Fever, lethargy, lack of appetite, runny nose, sore throat, coughing, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting.
How does infection spread?
• By exposure to infected droplets which come in air by coughing and sneezing.
• Through contaminated hands and surfaces.
DO’S-
• Avoid crowded place.
• Use mask when near an infected person.
• Wash hands with antiseptic soap.

What kind of symptoms call for medical attention?
• Shortness of breath or difficulty in breathing.
• More than three days continued high fever.
• Children with labored breathing and continuing fever or convulsions (seizures).

Even the holed up hours of long spelled drizzling offers the option of gazing it with a hot cup of tea and favorite book in hand. The added charm of the spell is nature watching and playing outdoor games like soccer in all favorite mania of FIFA. However with best of its charms, come the spoil sports like water-borne diseases and monsoon aided maladies.

Monsoon maladies and their symptoms:

Diarrhea- cramping, abdominal pain, bloating, nausea, watery stools, fever and sometimes bloody stools.
Typhoid-
headache, fatigue, stomach pain, high fever and loss of appetite.
Hepatitis A- yellow tinge of skin, eyes and nails (bilirubin build-up in body due to liver dysfunction). Fungal infections- red rashes accompanied with itching.

Appearance of any of these symptoms should be taken as signal to visit a doctor immediately.

Dos:
• Drink boiled or bottled water only.

• Wash hands with antiseptic before eating and cooking and after coming from outdoors. • Eat only boiled, cooked and peeled fruits and vegetables.
